Costs and Dates Outline

LANGUAGE EXCHANGES

Students who wish to go on exchange to China, France, Japan and Italy may have studied the relevant language and will be, or intend, continuing with this language in Year 11.

China $1400 (includes the cost of visa)

Nankai High School students to PLC Sydney  July - August.
PLC Sydney students go to Nankai High School (Includes cost of visa)  mid November - December (may need to wait to complete Cambridge exams)
Sometimes the China exchange operates as a normal exchange but if Nankai High School cannot send students to us, we offer placement for PLC Sydney students in its boarding houses for five to six weeks which incurs an additional cost of approximately $2000 per student. There is also a Beijing orientation at the beginning of the exchange which is arranged and paid for by our host school.

Japan $2,000

Meitoku Gijuku High School students to PLC Sydney  February - December
PLC Sydney students go to Meitoku Gijuku High School  October – December.
Cambridge students will sit examinations in Japan in 2020.
Plus Tokyo orientation trip costs - budget $1,000

France $2,200

Saint-Vincent Senlis students to PLC Sydney  May - July. (hosting clashes with East Timor trip)
PLC Sydney students go to Saint-Vincent Senlis  mid November-mid December (May need to wait to complete Cambridge exams)

Italy $2,400

Russell-Newton (Florence) students to PLC Sydney   August - September NB. may include a week of the holidays. 
PLC Sydney students go to Istituto Russell-Newton   mid November – early January (away for Christmas).

CULTURAL EXCHANGES

These exchanges are open to students where language study is NOT a prerequisite for the application.

BRAZIL $5,850

Bom Jesus IELUSC students to PLC Sydney   July - August
PLC Sydney students go to Bom Jesus IELUSC   September – October
Students doing Cambridge subjects may find this exchange more difficult due to missing some of Term 4.
Plus some spending money for the Rio de Janeiro and Iguassu Falls experience.

Denmark $4,000

PLC Sydney students go to The International Danish Academy of Vedersoe in November/December (3 weeks) with some time in Copenhagen lead by a PLC teacher as well.
The International Danish Academy of Vedersoe students to PLC Sydney early the following year (possibly one to two weeks) TBC
Plus some spending money for the Copenhagen experience.

England $2,250

Badminton School students to PLC Sydney   July - August
PLC Sydney students go to Badminton School   November - December
Not available to Cambridge subject students due to examinations.

Ripley St Thomas students to PLC Sydney   July - August
PLC Sydney students go to Ripley St Thomas early November – December
May clash with Cambridge examinations.

King William's College students to PLC Sydney July - August
PLC Sydney students go to King William's College in October - November.
There may be a bond paid directly to King Williams College TBC. May clash with Cambridge examinations.

Germany $2,300

Gymnasium Im Schloss students to PLC Sydney early July – mid August 
PLC Sydney students go to Gymnasium Im Schloss end November – early January (away for Christmas).

Hong Kong $1,100

St Paul’s Co-educational students to PLC Sydney   July - August
PLC Sydney students go to St Paul’s Co-educational   November - December
Cambridge examinations can be accommodated.  Students may need to leave later.

NEW ZEALAND $800

St Andrew’s College students to PLC Sydney   June - July. Hosting clashes with East Timor trip.
PLC Sydney students go to St Andrew’s College   July - August   
A bond of NZ $525 (2019) is paid directly to St Andrew's College and a camp may be offered (budget $600 TBC)

Scotland $2,800

St George's School students to PLC Sydney   July - August
PLC Sydney students go to St George's School early November - December.
Not available to Cambridge subject students.

South Africa $2,500

PLC Sydney students go to Herschel Girls’ School May - June
Herschel Girls’ School students to PLC Sydney October - November 
A Garden Route Tour may be offered (budget $800 TBC).
Not suitable for Cambridge subject students.

The Netherlands $2,200

Rijnlands Lyceum students to PLC Sydney   February – March
PLC Sydney students go to Rinjlands Lyceum   early October – end November
There is a European capital tour organised by the school or a school camp the students may attend.
This incurs an additional cost of approximately $1200 per student which is paid directly to the school.
Not available to Cambridge subject students.

Vietnam $700 (includes the cost of visa)

Vietnam-Australia School students to PLC Sydney   May - June. NB: There may clash with the East Timor trip.
PLC Sydney students go to Vietnam-Australia School  November – December.
May need to wait for Cambridge examinations.
