The College Dining Room is located on the ground floor of the Boarding House.
The College Dining Room is located on the ground floor of the Boarding House. The walls of this beautiful heritage room are lined with portraits of our Principals covering 135 years of PLC Sydney’s history. In the winter months the open fires are lit for meal times, which adds a warmth and homely atmosphere.
Our girls enjoy a wide variety of healthy and nutritious meals, prepared by our chefs. Dietary requirements are catered for and fresh fruit and/or vegetables are an integral part of every menu, from classic Australian to international cuisine. The Boarders Committee meet every term to go through the menus and put forward suggestions from their year groups.
We also host special event dinner and birthdays are celebrated for all Boarders at dinner. Mealtimes are considered to be an important part of the day, where students and staff come together over a meal to discuss the days activities and enjoys the company of fellow boarders.
The food is amazing. One night we had a slow cooked lamb and the chef cut it right in front of us - it was so good!
Anna, Year 8 Boarder
A great boarding life is a balance between school commitments, enthusiastic involvement in the co-curricular programs, time to rest and play, with the ability to explore life beyond the gates.
Our central location means our girls have Sydney on their doorstep. Students are allowed to use public transport, with Croydon train station conveniently located close by, to go to local shops and are given increased freedoms and responsibility as they mature.
Boarders enjoy a variety of weekend outings and in-house activities. The Boarders have easy access to many of the College’s fantastic facilities including the swimming pool, fitness centre and tennis courts. Within the House, there are also lounge areas for the girls to relax and watch movies in, do some exercise on one of the walking machines, play Wi-Dance or art and music spaces for piano practice and painting.
Each term the staff, in consultation with the Boarding Committee, design a program and calendar of activities that students are able to plan their weekends around. There are several special ‘full house’ activities planned throughout the year that all our boarders love to attend.
Our Senior Boarders arrange social outings, which can include shopping, going to the movies, meeting friends at a café or restaurant, visiting local markets, ferry trips, or one of Sydney’s many public attractions. Sydney is a busy city with a bounty of festivals, parks, wonderful sights and places to explore.
School holidays is an opportunity for our Boarders to spend time at home with family and friends as the Boarding House closes during the holidays.
