TIFFANY YI SELECTED TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA AT THE 2026 INTERNATIONAL BIOLOGY OLYMPIAD

Congratulations to Tiffany (Year 12), who has been selected to represent Australia at the 2026 International Biology Olympiad (IBO), a remarkable achievement that places her among the nation's most outstanding young scientists.

Tiffany is one of only four students selected from across Australia to compete at the International Biology Olympiad, which will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 12–19 July 2026.

The Australian team was officially announced at the Australian Olympiad Teams Announcement held at the Australian Parliament House in Canberra on 22 June.

Tiffany's journey to the national team began when she sat the Australian Science Olympiad Exam in July 2025. Following outstanding results, she was selected to attend the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School at the Australian National University in January 2026, where she undertook intensive training alongside some of the country's most talented science students.

After a rigorous selection process involving examinations, practical assessments and advanced training, Tiffany secured her place on the Australian team, having outperformed hundreds of students nationwide.

Tiffany said the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School was a highlight of her experience, providing the opportunity to connect with like-minded students and deepen her understanding of biology.

"Biology is my favourite science because I find it fascinating to learn how life functions and the complexities that enable us to exist," she said.

She is particularly interested in the human body and the brain, and enjoys learning about the intricate relationships between cells, tissues and organs that work together to sustain life.

Tiffany hopes to pursue a career in medicine and is considering future specialisations in neurology, neurosurgery or oncology.
As she prepares to represent Australia on the international stage, Tiffany is most looking forward to meeting students from around the world who share her passion for science.

Outside the classroom, Tiffany enjoys reading, playing video games and exploring a wide range of topics through online research.

PLC Sydney congratulates Tiffany on this outstanding achievement. Her dedication, intellectual curiosity and commitment to excellence are an inspiration to our community, and we wish her every success as she represents Australia at the 2026 International Biology Olympiad.
