PLC SYDNEY STUDENTS MAKE HISTORY AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

PLC Sydney students have made their mark on the international stage, helping Australia secure its first-ever medal at the Aerobic Gymnastics Junior World Championships in Pamplona, Spain.

Competing against the world’s best young aerobic gymnasts, PLC Sydney students and Club athletes were part of strong Australian performances across the Junior World Championships and World Youth Competitions.

The Junior AeroDance team delivered a history-making performance, scoring 17.550 in the final to win silver and secure Australia’s first-ever medal at an Aerobic Gymnastics Junior World Championship.

The silver medal-winning team included PLC Sydney students Ayva, Elise, Harriet and Tamsin, alongside PLC Sydney Club athletes Chloe, Mina and Willow.

PLC Sydney students Stamatia and Tamsin, together with PLC Sydney Club athlete Mina, also competed in the Junior Group event.

The team qualified eighth with a score of 17.350, before finishing seventh in the world in the final with a score of 17.250.

Five PLC Sydney students also represented Australia in the Youth Competition: Sienna, Beatrix, Maya, Chloe and Evie.

Competing at a World Youth Competition is a significant achievement in itself, giving these young athletes the opportunity to gain valuable experience on the international stage and compete against athletes from around the world.

Their performances in Pamplona are an important part of their ongoing development as athletes, with each competition bringing new experience, challenges and opportunities to learn.

The Pamplona campaign was a significant moment for Australian Aerobic Gymnastics, with the Junior AeroDance silver marking the country’s first-ever medal at the Junior World Championships.

For our PLC Sydney athletes, it was an opportunity to represent their school and their country on the world stage, and an experience they can carry forward as they continue their sporting journeys.

The next Junior World Championships and World Youth Competitions will be held in Cairo in 2028.
