Open to students in Years 9 to 12 with a keen interest in Mathematics, the Mathematics Tour travels to the USA every three years.
The tour is designed to allow students to experience Mathematics in a variety of contexts. Students will attend universities, specialist Mathematics schools as well as visit Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Manhattan Museum of Maths (MOMATH), Sony Wonder Technology Centre, the New York financial district and the Smithsonian Institute.
Each day includes a different mathematical learning experience such as interactive mathematical workshops.
The aims of this tour are to:
- Broaden perception of the usefulness of Mathematics.
- Showcase the career paths available through the study of Mathematics.
- Inspire a love of Mathematics.
Travelling to the areas of New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Washington DC, the tour will also take in important historical landmarks as well as a tour of an Amish community in Lancaster.
