Welcome to our Boarding House and our warm and inclusive community. After walking through the beautiful heritage door, you go up a grand staircase that sweeps into the House, opening into long, light filled corridors that are a buzz with the sounds of happy students.

...student well-being

The well-being of every individual girl within the Boarding House is a priority of our dedicated team, ensuring they have strong connections within the house—with other students and staff—and feel both supported and cared for.

To enable everyone to get to know each other, including the local area, orientation activities are arranged at the start of the School year. New boarders also see the College Counsellor within the first term, to assist their transition to school.

During the school week, the Director of Boarding liaises with key members of the Senior School staff to ensure that all boarders are supported academically, culturally and socially. We are here to understand the needs of each girl and make their stay at PLC Sydney a productive and enjoyable experience where they will flourish.

Our Chaplains also support our boarders very well. Each week our boarders gather to hear from our Chaplains.

Staff are always on hand, if any student wishes to chat about any concerns. Boarders are also able to attend the College Health Centre during school hours to speak with the College Nurse on medical issues or the College Counselling team if she has something on her mind and seeking clarity or support.

We ensure our boarders have every opportunity to fulfil their academic potential by providing sufficient sleep, an excellent diet and encouraging an active lifestyle.

Being a small Boarding House, you actually have more opportunity to really build relationships. You get to know how they think, what they want and what makes them flourish as individuals.

Chapel is held in College Hall, in the heart of our beautiful heritage-listed Shubra Hall.

Chapel

The Boarders attend Chapel every fortnight on Tuesday evening before dinner as a community and have a dedicated Chaplain. This is a time to reflect, stop and consider how we connect with one another and the values of the College.

Boarders are encouraged to attend church, if they wish. The College is affiliated with  a number of local churches through our chaplaincy staff and day student families.

Our well qualified and experienced Registered Nurse is part of the wonderful team who take care of our Boarders.

Health Care

The physical and mental wellbeing of our Boarders is paramount and all Boarders have access to the best medical care available.

The College Health Centre is staffed by two well qualified and experienced Registered Nurses and is open: Monday to Friday from 8.00 am – 4.00 pm. There is also a nurse on call outside of these hours.

Appointments to see medical professionals are made through the Health Centre to ensure a staff member is available to escort the Boarder to her appointments, with the Croydon Medical Centre available, when necessary, for more urgent medical situations.  The School also has access to ancillary services in our local area, such as dentists and physiotherapists.
