PLC Sydney offers a range of scholarships and bursaries to support outstanding students and create opportunities for those who might not otherwise be able to join our community. These cover part or full tuition or boarding fees and are awarded on academic merit, musical ability, or other talents. Some are means-tested. For more information, see our FAQs.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships awarded on the basis of academic excellence and a student’s commitment to College life.
- For: New students entering Year 11 in 2026 (not current PLC Sydney students)
- Covers: Tuition fees only (full or partial) for Years 11–12

Scholarships for students with outstanding instrumental, vocal, or musical theatre ability and potential.

- Excludes: Textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees, individual subject fees or boarding fees.

Criteria for Selection
- Australian Permanent Residents only (documentation required)
- Minimum AMEB grade, or equivalent, required on one of the following instruments:
- Strings: Violin Grade VI, Viola or Cello Grade V, Double Bass Grade II
- Brass/Woodwind & Percussion: Grade III standard
- Willing to contribute to the College community and the broad goals of PLC Sydney
Audition Requirements (shorlisted candidates only)
- Perform two contrasting pieces on the chosen instrument
- If auditioning on a second instrument, play one piece on both instruments
- Sight reading
Expectations
PLC Sydney Music scholars are assessed continuously throughout the year and are expected to participate fully in the Music program offered at PLC Sydney.

- Other Brass/Woodwind: Trumpet or Trombone Grade IV, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute Grade V, Orchestral Percussion Grade IV
- Piano: Grade VIII. Applicants must also perform a second orchestral instrument (one piece on piano, one piece on second instrument). Voice, Organ, or Harp may be used as the second instrument.
- Vocal and Musical Theatre Requirements:
- Voice: Open to all genres, including classical, jazz, contemporary, and musical theatre. Applicants are assessed on musicality, technical skill, and potential for growth.
- Musical Theatre: Open to students with experience in singing, dancing, movement, and acting. Applicants are assessed on musicality, technical skill, and potential for growth.

- Deliver a 1–2 minute monologue from a published musical or play

INDIGENOUS SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to access a PLC Sydney education.
PLC Sydney acknowledges that our school community is situated on Wangal land and in this, we are committed to continuing to participate in the rich history of these lands. For over 50 years, part of embracing this commitment has involved offering educational opportunities for Indigenous students. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students are encouraged to apply for one of two scholarships offered to students seeking to attend PLC Sydney.
- For: New Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students entering Years 7–12, boarding (not current PLC Sydney students)
- Covers: Full tuition and boarding fees for up to six years (Years 7–12), plus resources up to $3,500 per year (textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees, subject fees)
- Excludes: PLC Sydney Application Fee ($440) and ESU Membership ($200)
- Status: Applications open 20 October 2025
