Winning words at the Worlds!

Year 12 student, Breteil David, has put yet another notch in her oratory belt by claiming 4th place overall at the online World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Competition (WIDPSC) which was held last year from 23-26 April.

Breteil was the only member of the Australian team who placed in the Top 20, where the podium was heavily dominated by the Canadian team, who took out 12 of the top places.

Breteil competed in two pre-recorded events (Interpretive Reading and Persuasive Speaking) and two synchronised events (Debate and Impromptu), competing against 120 other students from around the globe.

Breteil was selected to perform in the finals of three of four disciplines - Interpretative Reading, Debate and Persuasive Speaking. Well done Breteil!

NB Breteil Tigris David was the 2021 Debating Captain and represented Australia both in 2020 and 2021 at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Competition (WIDPSC), for which she received her National Representative Blazer (see image).

Post HSC, Breteil is currently doing a double degree at the University of Sydney in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Politics & International Relations).
