“The Chinese exchange is quite a demanding one as the Chinese culture, way of life and people are very different to what is currently experienced in Australia.” – Mercy Saw
PLC Sydney has a formal exchange partnership with Tianjin Nankai High School in Tianjin.
Year 10 students spend four weeks immersed in Chinese culture, attending school five to six days per week and participating in family activities with their hosts. Students also have the opportunity to travel to surrounding areas, taking in sites of historical and cultural importance.
The China Exchange offers a unique chance to develop language skills for students of Chinese language studies.
Established in 1904, Tianjin Nankai High School is located on the site of the former Nankai School – known as an historic site and rated as a national major cultural protection unit.
Over the past 100 years, generations of Nankai High School graduates have made significant contributions to the country. The first Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Zhou Enlai, and also the last Premier, Wen Jiabao, are among the school’s prestigious alumni.
The students will have a short Beijing experience organised by Nankai High School at the beginning of the exchange period.
