Service Learning Captain

'My friends, family and supportive PLC family have contributed to my Year 12 experience. I also love playing sport and going on runs. At PLC Sydney I participated in the Cross Country, Netball, Rhythmic Gymnastics (IGSSA Representation), Softball (PLC Sydney Firsts) and Volleyball.'

What is your fondest memory of your time at PLC Sydney?

My fondest memory during my time at PLC Sydney was being apart of the 2022 Vietnam tour group. This experience was truly an eye opening experience and I enjoyed every moment of the tour from learning about the Vietnamese culture to seeing the children's faces light up each day at the Ba Vi centre.

What is the most valuable lesson you learned at PLC Sydney?

The most valuable lesson I have learnt from being a student at PLC Sydney is the act of service. I have participated in many service activities within the school and outside of school. These acts of service have been eye-openning experiences that I will cherish and continue to participate in. I think that PLC Sydney's framework is heavily based on the principle of service and gratitude, which are fundamental values of the students at PLC Sydney. From the small bake sales, to raising money for Year Group fundraisers, we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in service.

If you could offer advice or a tip to someone about to do their final year, what would it be?

To the Year 11 students, the best piece of advice I could give is to maintain a growth mindset. This comes from your ability to be open to all the opportunities that the school offers, and being able to remain optimistic, even in times of failure or stress. Year 12 is not an easy year to conquer but I feel as though it will be the most rewarding, so you must cherish each and every moment of your final year. And if you can, try to maintain a balance socially, academically and athletically.
