Last week, PLC Sydney commemorated National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories and the ongoing journey towards justice and healing with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The theme for this year, “Bridging Now to Next,” calls us to not only remember the past but to take meaningful steps forward—together. As Pastor Ray Minniecon, Indigenous Elder and consultant on PLC Sydney’s RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) journey, reminds us:
“Reconciliation is not a destination; it is a living journey. It begins with truth-telling and continues with praxis. The bridge from ‘now to next’ is built not just with good intentions, but with courageous conversations… and relationships grounded in respect and justice.”

Throughout the week, students and staff engaged in a range of activities to deepen our collective understanding and commitment to reconciliation. We were honoured to join Roseville College for a Sorry Day service, share moments of reflection with Aunty Kayleen at the Year 5-led Junior School Assembly, and conclude with a special Senior School Assembly featuring a panel of speakers, including Pastor Ray Minniecon, with families of our Aboriginal students joining us for morning tea.
Years 11 and 12 students, accompanied by Nathan on guitar, performed a beautiful rendition of From Little Things Big Things Grow .
We are grateful to all staff and students who continue to contribute to this ongoing journey through truth-telling, respectful dialogue, and the relationships we nurture every day in our classrooms and beyond.
As a school community, we remain committed to walking together, from now to next, in the spirit of reconciliation.
