Curtain Call is always a highlight of the Performing Arts calendar, and this year was no exception. The annual showcase brought together the achievements of PLC Sydney’s HSC Music and Drama students, offering audiences an evening of captivating performances and thought-provoking projects.

Drama students delivered moving and mature interpretations, demonstrating nuance and control across monologues, group-devised works, and design submissions. Their performances reflected both technical strength and emotional honesty.

Music students performed with sophistication and flair, from lyrical solo works such as Debussy’s Sarabande to high-energy ensemble moments. Their original compositions and projects showcased creativity and innovation, reflecting the breadth of talent within the cohort.

The evening also included a tribute to our much-loved Mr Malcolm Heap, who retired earlier this year. A large group of both current and ex-students performed as a combined choir to thank Mr Heap for his service to PLC Sydney and specifically, the Performing Arts.

Reflecting on her journey, Music student Rachel Yang shared:

"Music has been a special part of my time at school, fostering countless connections and memories. I am forever grateful for the lessons learnt, the friendships, and the joy from ensembles and my Music 2 class."

For Drama student Lucy Carlisle, the experience was transformative:

"Drama is immeasurably valuable and unique in the way that it teaches you more than just theoretical knowledge or practical skills; in Drama, you learn about yourself. It has helped me grow both as a performer and as a person."

We congratulate our graduating students for their artistry, commitment, and courage in sharing their work. Their performances were a testament to years of learning, collaboration, and resilience.

Special thanks go to Ms Joanna Golotta-Maxwell (Head of Drama) and Mrs Casey Allen (Head of Music), whose guidance and encouragement helped shape this year’s remarkable Curtain Call.
