PLC Sydney and the Adelaide Perry Gallery are delighted to announce that Scott Elliot , Assistant Curator of Australian Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales , will serve as judge for the 2026 Perry Prize.
Scott Elliot is a visual arts curator, writer and editor with extensive experience leading major exhibition and publication projects. In his current role at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, he works closely with the Australian prints and drawings collection, bringing a thoughtful and informed perspective to contemporary drawing practice.
Scott has contributed to significant exhibitions including The National 4: Australian Art Now , Lesley Dumbrell: Thrum , and Dangerously Modern: Australian Women Artists in Europe 1890–1940 . In 2026 he will curate the sixth edition of the Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial. Prior to joining the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Scott worked at the National Art School Gallery, where he was coordinating curator of the Dobell Drawing Prize and co-curator of the 2021 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship exhibition. He holds both a Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts from the University of New South Wales.
His expertise and deep engagement with contemporary drawing make him an outstanding choice to judge this year’s prize.
The Perry Prize is a $25,000 acquisitive award recognising excellence in contemporary drawing by Australian artists. Established in 2006, the prize celebrates the diversity and vitality of drawing practice across Australia.
A $2,000 People’s Choice Award (non-acquisitive) will also be presented.
Entries must be original drawings completed between 14 January 2025 and 14 January 2026 .
Finalists will be selected for exhibition at the Adelaide Perry Gallery at PLC Sydney.
