PLC Sydney Community Farewell Year 12 Class of 2017
PLC Sydney senior students, staff and parents gathered together on Wednesday 20 September to farewell the graduating Year 12 Class of 2017.
Following an Acknowledgement of Country by 2018 School Captain, Rebekah Kang, Principal, Dr Paul Burgis, welcomed guests to the special assembly.
Erin Harmer (Year 12) performed a beautiful solo of Song for Ireland, which was followed by a reading of John 10:11-18 by 2017 School Captain, Sandra Magro. College Chaplain, Mrs Cassandra Morphew then spoke, encouraging the girls to take the PLC Sydney values of reverence, wisdom, service, grace, integrity and purpose with them into life beyond school; and to recognise Jesus as the ultimate source of those values and much more.
Students Louisa Cusumano (Year 9), Sarah Sweeting (Year 10) and Rebekah Kang (Year 11) each provided a unique and heartfelt reflection on their relationship with Year 12, it's clear they have been a supportive and encouraging year group. Vanessa Lubrano (Year 12) and Olivia Pistolese (Year 12) then spoke on behalf of the students who commenced at PLC Sydney in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten, after which the group presented the Junior School with a gift of a tree to plant in the new Junior School.
Sandra Magro talked fondly about her time at the College, and the friendships and memories amongst the Year 12 cohort. In her final act as School Captain she handed the ceremonial urn, symbolising School Spirit, to Rebekah Kang.
After singing their favourite hymn, Shine Jesus Shine, for the last time, each Year 12 student was presented with a Bible by Dr Burgis and rose by Rebekah Kang.
Following the assembly, students, parents and staff enjoyed a light lunch and bid their final farewells around the Camphor Laurel Tree.
The PLC Sydney Community would like to thank the Year 12 Class of 2017 for their significant contribution to the College. We wish all students the very best in their HSC examinations and every success for the future.
