Senior Chamber Orchestra

On Friday 17 February, PLC Sydney hosted the High Achievers and Gold Effort Rating Assembly. This occasion warranted a musical item and we chose Morricone’s Gabriel’s Oboe. As it was so early in the year, there was just enough time to rehearse it but not enough time to find an oboe player. Isabella Zhu ( Year 12 ), one of our music scholars is playing the oboe part beautifully on the violin.

Friday 31 March saw the inaugural PLC Shakespeare Carnival. The night was a great success and highlighted the depth of talent PLC Sydney has to offer in the Performing Arts. Many of the performances were new to, such as the PLC Sydney Double Reed Consort created by Mr Barnwell, or the Medieval Players created by Miss Curiel, or new ideas that very rarely feature in performance such as Dance, Classroom Music and Improvised Shakespeare. The winners for each category have been discussed at length and decisions have now been made. We would like to thank all the performers for taking part in the inaugural PLC Sydney Shakespeare Carnival and congratulations to the winners of each category.

Duologue - Much Ado about Nothing featuring Yashica Moodley (Year 10) and Alex Raleigh (Year 10)
Group - Julius Caesar featuring Louisa Williamson (Year 12), Sophia Morrison (Year 12) and Scarlett Wynne (Year 12)

Sonnet - featuring Hemans Chan (Year 10), Gabrielle Hawkey (Year 10), Tegan Neowhouse (Year 10), Sophie Montague (Year 10), Sophie Bounds (Year 10) and Phoebe Ng (Year 10)

Fire - featuring Sally Payne (Year 10), Lani Bailey (Year 10).

The winners of each category will now perform in the Regional Shakespeare Carnival in May. Thank you again to everyone involved in this exciting evening.

The PLC Sydney Wind Ensemble and Pipes and Drums will join the ANZAC Day March in the City Centre. The March begins at 9.00 am at the intersection of Martin Place and Elizabeth Street. It travels down Elizabeth Street and finishes at the end of Hyde Park at Liverpool Street. At the conclusion of the parade, at approximately 12.30 pm, a commemoration service is held next to The Pool of Remembrance at the ANZAC War Memorial in Hyde Park South.

The New PLC Sydney Symphony Orchestra

The Senior Chamber Orchestra and members of the Wind Ensemble have joined forces to create a Symphony Orchestra. This exciting new venture will make its official debut at this year's Open Day and Fair, performing 'Unfinished Symphony' by Schubert, live on stage at the Audrey Keown Theatre at 1.20 pm. Keep an eye on for a sneak peek of the PLC Sydney Symphony Orchestra in action.
