Sports Update



Congratulations to Artistic Level 7 gymnasts’ Marie-Antoinette Montuoro (Year 8) and Mia Duarte (Year 8) and Rhythmic Junior Elite Gymnast Amber Atcheson (Year 9) who competed in the 2nd State Trial last weekend. All gymnasts qualified through to the State Championships with Amber finishing in 6th place. State Championships will be held on 8–9 April 2017 at Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre. All the best girls!

Congratulations to our Tildesley Shield Tennis Team who competed at the recent tournament at Pennant Hills. The team spirit was evident as the girls supported one another at their matches. Our Team Captain, Sabrina Tam (Year 12), was busy helping all the girls get used to the atmosphere at the event. Highlights of the day were:

  • Ashley Allman (Year 10) who reached round 5 in the singles
  • Brianna and Tegan Neowhouse (Year 10) played their way into round 3 of the doubles.

Overall PLC Sydney finished 15th from 25 schools. Well done to our 2017 Tildesley Shield Tennis Team.

Congratulations to our PLC Sydney students who completed at the 2017 CIS Primary Swimming and Diving Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Center on Thursday 23 March.


Our divers performed brilliantly with all girls improving on their performances at the 2017 IPSHA competition. We are extremely proud of every one of them. Highlights of the day were:

  • Rose Tan (Year 3) - 1st in 8 Years Springboard
  • Amy Somboli (Year 4) 2nd in 10 Years Springboard
  • Emily Webb (Year 6) 1st in 11 Years Springboard and 3rd in Open Platform.

Rose, Amy and Emily competed at the 2017 NSWPSSA Diving Championships on Wednesday 5 April. Results will be published in the next issue of Connections.

Congratulations to our swimmers who performed well and should be proud of their individual performances: Mia Fildissis (Year 5), Saskia Paoli (Year 6), Caitlin Oeser (Year 6), Tidarat McLachlan (Year 6), Rose Tan (Year 3) and Stephanie Chew (Year 4). The day was a success with many students achieving personal bests and competing in the finals.


Special mention goes to Rose for coming 3rd in the 8 Years 50m Freestyle and Mia for 1st place in the 50m Butterfly and 3rd in the 50m Backstroke.


Rose and Mia competed at the 2017 NSWPSSA Swimming Championships on Wednesday 5 April. Results will be published in the next issue of Connections.




Georgie and Karli competed at Surf Lifesaving Australia National Championships at Kira Beach on the Gold Coast. They were representing Bronte Surf Club in the Under 17 Team Surf Life Saving event. The competition was extremely fierce and the team finished in an impressive 5th place. Congratulations girls!

Lilli Harris (Year 11) has also been selected in the NSW Junior Water Polo Squad to press for selection in the NSW Junior Team. Lilli joins Emily Gralton (Year 9), Abbey Simshauser (Year 10) and Georgia Smith (Year 9) who were congratulated in the last issue of Connections.


We apologise for the omission of Lilli’s selection and wish her all the very best at the three camps where all four girls will vy for selection for the National Championships to be held in Sydney later this year.

On Thursday 30 March 2017, Abby Alleyn (Year 6), Luca Mackinnon (Year 6), Caitlin Oeser (Year 6) and Raehana Taoube (Year 6) braved the weather to attend the IPSHA Hockey trials at Abbotsleigh School. They all played well, showing great skills and determination. Congratulations to Abbey and Luca who have been selected into the IPSHA Representative Squad.
