A group of enthusiastic elective Visual Arts students from Years 9–12 have been thoroughly enjoying building specialist artmaking skills in the new Masterclass program which commenced this Term. The girls have produced some wonderful work so far within the Introduction to Oil Painting with guest artist Becky Gibson. They have represented still-life subjects within their drawing and painting studies and are developing a finished work of art that be displayed in a pop-up exhibition in The Croydon. Visual Arts staff Ms Gair and Ms Knight have joined the group, working alongside the students sharing their thirst for learning and passion for continuing their own artmaking practice.
We are excited to offer this course again in Term 2. The Masterclass is a six week program which is open to Elective Visual Arts students from Years 9–12 and in Term 2 will run on a Wednesday afternoon from 3.15–5.15 pm. Becky will teach the process of Oil Painting from preparing the surface, colour theory and building up layers with oil paint to create a resolved work of art. Becky is a professional painter who won the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship in 2012, the Mosman Art Allan Gamble Memorial Prize for built environment in 2014 and was our Artist in Residence at PLC Sydney in 2014. If you are interested in participating in the program or would like further information please email Ms Knight on email@example.com
Please note that numbers are strictly limited to 15 students and places will be prioritised in order of expression of interest and to senior students. Please contact Ms Knight ASAP if you wish to participate.
