SWIMMING AND DIVING

On Tuesday 7 March 2017, 19 Hamilton swimmers competed at the IPSHA Swimming Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Center. The day was a tremendous success with many students achieving personal bests.
The Senior Relay was one of the highlights of the day with Mia Fildissis (Year 5), Saskia Paoli (Year 6), Caitlin Oeser (Year 6) and Tidarat McLachlan (Year 6) placing third. Rose Tan (Year 3) and Stephanie Chew (Year 4) joined them to compete at the NSWCIS Carnival on Wednesday 23 March.
All swimmers are to be commended for a successful meet.

Our divers also had a very successful day at the IPSHA Diving Carnival receiving some wonderful results and valuable experience. Rose Tan, finished 1st in the 8 Years Springboard with Emily Webb (Year 6) finishing 2nd in the 11 Years Springboard and 4th in the Open Platform.
Rose and Emily along with Amy Somboli (Year 4) and Naomi Webb (Year 4) will represent IPSHA at the NSWCIS championships on Thursday 23 March.

The swimming team came agonisingly close to defending their championship title at the IGSSA Swimming Carnival on Thursday 9 March. Racing neck and neck with Abbotsleigh and Pymble it was a terrific contest with many swimming their personal best times on the day. PLC Sydney finished in second place with 401 points, just half a point behind Abbotsleigh!
Congratulations to the Junior Medley Relay team of Donna Choi (Year 8), Jasmine Tran (Year 9), Anna Lee (Year 7) and Paige Jones (Year 7) who broke the IGSSA record in their gold medal win.
The Senior Medley Relay also delivered gold courtesy of Karli Musarra (Year 11), Lauren Mc Dougall (Year 11), Isabella Jobling (Year 12) and Chloe Yoo (Year 12).
The All Age Relay team ended the day in style with a gold medal to Emily Yoon (12 Years), Paige Jones (13 Years), Alexandra McDougall (14 Years ), Samarah Melia (15 Years), Sarah Waugh (16 Years) and Megan McConnell (17+ Years).
Individual standout performances saw gold medal wins for:
- Anna Lee (Year 7) 13 Years 50m Freestyle
- Paige Jones (Year 7) 13 Years 50m Breaststroke
- Donna Choi (Year 8) 14 Years 50m Backstroke
- Jasmine Tran (Year 9) 14 Years 50 m Breaststroke
- Mariah Moshovis (Year 10) 16 Years 50m Freestyle
- Chloe Yoo (Year 12) 18 Years 50m Freestyle
- Sarah Kemp (Year 12) 18 Years 50m Breaststroke
- Bronte Marshall (Year 12) 11–19 Years 50m Backstroke Multi-Class
Congratulations to Captain Chloe Yoo and the 35 member strong swimming team who represented the school with great pride. A special thank you to coaches Pancha Thambo and Frank Preston, and Managers Karen Stephenson and Lee Capes. A superb team effort.

The Diving team also performed exceptionally well finishing second overall at the IGSSA Diving Carnival, a result that we are truly proud of. Without one of our best divers, Milla Karam (Year 8), absent due to injury, the team pulled together and supported one another to deliver faultless performances. A highlight of the day was Lauren Flint (Year 8) taking out the Intermediate Champion and Open Platform.
Congratulations to Gabrielle O’Dea (Year 7), Chloe Chau (Year 8), Stephanie Pholi (Year 9) and Eleanor Smith (Year 10) who placed second in the team event.
Individual standout performances saw medals presented to:
- Tyra Olsson (Year 12) 3rd in 17 Years Springboard and 2nd in 17–18 Years Platform
- Paige Banducci (Year 9) 2nd in 15 Years Springboard
- Marie-Antoinette Montuoro (Year 8) 3rd in 16 Years Springboard
- Lauren Flint (Year 8) 1st in 14 Years Springboard, 1st in 14–15 Years Platform and 1st Open Platform
- Zoe Leckie (Year 7) 3rd in 13 Years Springboard

State Diving Championships
Congratulations to our senior divers who competed at the NSW State Championships from 18–19 March. The girls did extremely well with our divers taking out a number of places.
- Emily Webb (Year 6): 3rd in Platform, 3rd in 1m Springboard, 1st in 3m Springboard and 1st in U13 Years Synchro
- Zoe Leckie (Year 7): 3rd in 12–13 Years 1m Springboard
- Lauren Flint (Year 8): 2nd in Open Springboard and 1st Open Platform
Congratulations to Paige Banducci (Year 9) who qualified to compete in the 14–15 Years 3m Springboard in the National Championships and Tyra Olsson (Year 12) who qualified for the 16–18 Years 3m Springboard and Platform.
SURF LIFE SAVING

Congratulations to Georgina Ryan (Year 12) and Karli Musarra (Year 11) whose team won silver at the 2017 NSW Surf Life Saving Championships.
Representing Bronte Surf Life Saving Club, Georgina and Karli competed in the Under 17 Mixed Team event at the 2017 Open State Championships held Sunday 26 February at Blacksmiths Beach. The team competition combines all elements of Surf Life Saving. Competitors are tested on theory and compete in a surf and board race. The event also involves a patrol set up and competitors are tested with scenarios undertaking rescues, performing CPR, use of oxygen therapy and defib, radio communications and providing first aid.
We wish Georgina and Karli all the best as they prepare to compete at the 2017 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships to be held on the Gold Coast at the end of March.

Congratulations to Amber Atcheson (Year 10), Maia Shannon (Year 8) and Mia Duarte (Year 8) who achieved some great results at their respective Gymnastics trials held from 4–5 March 2017.
Amber competed at the GNSW Senior Rhythmic Trial 1 placing 1st in Hoop, 4th in Ball, 4th in Clubs, 3rd in Ribbon and 3rd Overall in the Junior International. She competed at the GNSW Senior Trial 2 held 18–19 March.
At the GNSW Senior Artistic Qualifier, Maia placed 6th in Floor and Mia placed 5th Bars, 4th Beam and 7th Overall.
Congratulations to all on a successful weekend.
It was a wet day on Saturday 4 March. Five PLC Sydney crews braved the weather to compete at Riverview in the Gold Cup. Well done to all crews for some great racing. A special congratulations to all our coxswains who steered incredibly well on one of the trickiest courses in NSW.
