Year 8 Camp
It was a sunny Wednesday when Year 8 gathered for camp in Thompson Hall. Bags filled with sleeping bags, suncream, chocolates and pillows spilled onto the floor as rolls were marked and homeroom groups gathered. Those who were a little reticent about going were comforted by friends and the nervous laughter was shared by teachers and students. Going camping can be daunting and every student who stepped onto the bus that morning demonstrated strength and determination.
The focus for Year 8 in Term 4 has been ‘Grit and Grace’ and the lessons that had been theoretical up to this point were put into practice at camp. They overcame fear of heights on the flying fox, pushed through discomfort when canoeing and practised patience when cooking over small stoves. Singing and cheering punctuated every activity and the kind encouragement between the girls was lovely to witness. Well done to Year 8 for finishing 2017 with boldness and courage and thank you to the incredible staff who camped alongside their groups. What fun it was to make lasting memories such as these.
