Bronze Duke of Ed

📸Year 9 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey students at the Royal National Park.

Over two weekends in October and November, 60 girls from Year 9 took part in the two day/one night Adventurous Journey that took them hiking and camping overnight in the Royal National Park. The girls filled their backpacks with tents, stoves, food and clothes and set off to navigate to camp. With tents pitched and the facilities sorted the girls settled down to prepare their menus using the trusty trangia stoves, before the dark set in.

Day two saw groups taking walks over a variety of terrains from coastal tracks to inland fire tracks. The girls pushed themselves the whole way, covering between 11-16 km’s on the Sunday carrying their packs and even one group had time to become very attached to some friendly animals.

Well done to all the girls and thank you to the staff who came along to support and encourage the girls each weekend. I hope the girls have enjoyed the challenge of the Bronze Award and look forward to seeing them progress onto the Silver Award in 2018.
