Year 3 Perform in the New Amphitheatre

On Thursday 9 November, Year 3 took part in a special performance of the music composition project In Her Hands, devised by PLC Sydney-Composer-in Residence, Mr Paul Jarman.

In Her Hands began in Term 1 when Year 3 were asked to bring a special object to their music class. Each student was interviewed about her object and had her voice synchronised. This was presented together with a beautiful artwork created in their art classes of the special object.

Throughout the year, the girls improvised, created lyrics and developed their own three songs. Nine of these songs premiered at the performance evening and included stories about: The Magnolia Tree, Grandma's Olympic Medal, Friends, A World War 1 War Diary, Dreams and Confident. The girls did very well and enjoyed telling their stories.

This event was the culmination of many months of work with the class teachers, Year 3 music teachers and some very special input from PLC Sydney-Composer-in Residence, Mr Paul Jarman.

Congratulations to Year 3 for a beautiful evening and for being the first to perform in the new Hamilton Amphitheatre.
