Opening of designartawards 2017
designartawards, an annual exhibition showcasing the outstanding and diverse achievements of PLC Sydney Technological and Applied Studies and Visual Arts students from Years 7–11, was officially opened at 6.30 pm Tuesday 31 October at Adelaide Perry Gallery.

To begin the official proceedings and awards ceremonies, Mr Mark Hetherington, Curator, welcomed the crowd of PLC Sydney families and friends to Adelaide Perry Gallery and introduced the guest speaker, PLC Sydney alumni (class of 2015), Ms Unjelique Hajjar.
Ms Hajjar, who is completing a Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Education at UNSW, reminisced on her positive experiences at The Croydon, majoring in Visual Arts, Design & Technology and Textiles & Design and congratulated the students and their teachers for the fine works on display. Regarding her tertiary studies, Ms Hajjar spoke of the enduring value of following the guidance of, and being open to learning from, her teachers during her studies whilst at PLC Sydney. Dr Paul Burgis then addressed the crowd and announced that Unjelique’s elaborate HSC Major Design Project had been purchased by the College in 2015 and will soon hang at the main reception area of the new Gateway Building. Elena Koskinas, 2018 Art & Design Captain then thanked Ms Hajjar for her participation at the event, presenting a gift in appreciation on behalf of the students and staff at PLC Sydney.

To conclude the official proceedings, Ms Jo Herrmann, Head of Technological and Applied Studies and Ms Jo Knight, Head of Visual Arts, presented class awards for Outstanding Achievement as well as Creativity and Consistency in Design and Technology, Textiles, Food Technology, Visual Arts, Visual Design, Photography, Video and Digital Imaging students from Years 7–11.
The exhibition continues at Adelaide Perry Gallery weekdays 8.30 am – 4.00 pm until 9 November 2017. All welcome.
