OnStage Nominations for HSC Drama students
Congratulations to Sophia Morrison, Tahlia Merlino, Claudia Raguz and Erin Harmer on their Individual Performance nominations for OnStage. This nomination indicates exceptional performance in the final HSC practical examination in Drama. We are very proud of the high quality of performance from our students and receive these nominations with a sense of joy and excitement.
From the total number of nominated students the examination committee will put together two OnStage programs to be staged at the Seymour Centre in February highlighting what HSC excellence looks like. A variety of performances from public, independent and Catholic schools, from rural and urban NSW are selected. Most nominated students will sadly not perform, however, the honour of nomination bodes well for the high standard of work produced by all 2017 PLC Sydney HSC Drama candidates.
Our hearty congratulations go to our students and their hard working teacher Mrs Maria Halkidis.
On Monday 11 September, Year 12 Drama and Music students had their final opportunity to perform in front of an audience. The 2017 Year 12 Performing Arts cohort are incredibly talented students and the night was very entertaining; full of tears, laughs, toe-tapping and virtuosity. The night featured various Individual Projects and Group Performances from the Drama Course that were delivered with such maturity it was hard to believe that you were watching a school performance. The quality of the Music students representing all courses was outstanding whether it was a Messiaen Prelude, a jazz clarinet quartet, or an Irish voice and harp duet. Isabella Jobling was once again captivating in her Dance performance and for the first time, we featured an HSC composition in the program. Tasman Jones’ composition, Antithesis Movement II: Fire was beautiful and exciting all in one.
Congratulations go to all of our Performing Arts students and the Year 12 teachers.
