House Cup 2017

The fifth annual Procession of the House Flags ceremony was held on Friday 1 September. The event commenced with a performance by House Patons and House Captains, choreographed by Ms Nicole Kotsis, that quickly set the mood for the rest of the ceremony.

Holding their house flags high, 2017 house captains from Anderson, Ferguson, Harper, Kinross, Pickard and Wilkie, were carried in on the backs of their vice-captains, and introduced by the incoming captains for 2018.

This was followed by the induction of several staff members, who were officially welcomed by the patron from their respective house. Chelsea, the Boarding House dog, stole the show in a royal blue outfit consisting of feathers, flowers glitter and even a balloon attached.

Backed up by Mr Phil Harper’s Big Band, Sophie Montague put on a sterling performance of Joy to the World while Emily Alexander-Wood performed a beautiful salsa routine.

Mr Ben Pettenon, aka Bruno Mars, Head of Houses, welcomed students, staff and guests with a rousing speech, recounting the passion, pain and performances of the house events held throughout the year.

Events then turned to the highlight of the day – the announcement of the House Cup winner. Amidst much excitement and cheering, the final results were:

  • 1st: Kinross
  • 2nd: Pickard
  • 3rd: Anderson and Ferguson

Celebrations continued as students then gathered together in their houses for the annual House BBQ, which was held in various locations around the campus. Year 11 students and staff prepared a delicious lunch to farewell Year 12 students and present them with parting gifts.

Congratulations and thank you go to Mr Ben Pettenon, House patrons, staff who helped out and participated, parents who assisted, and Year 11 students and their leaders for all their hard work to make the day so special.
