Timor-Leste Tour 2017

During the Winter holidays, ten students had the incredible opportunity to travel to Timor-Leste for the Year 10 Service Learning Tour.
The tour entailed volunteering at two preschools in the capital city, Dili. In the mornings, we taught the Timorese children fun craft and physical activities such as painting, dancing and singing. We bonded with the children through excited high-fives, warm smiles and heartfelt hugs. In the afternoons, we cleaned the pre-school and repainted the walls and outside murals. This was an unforgettable experience that we strongly recommend future Year 10 students partaking in.
As we witnessed the extraordinary beauty of this island, we grew closer in our friendships and shared many fun activities, such as canoeing on the beach, dinners, snorkeling tours, challenging museum visits and overnight airport layovers.
Thank you to Mrs O’Donnell for her meticulous organising of this trip, as well as Ms Coyte, Ms McGraw, Fred and Marianne Zayat for their utmost, continual support and company on this tour. Our gratitude goes to the PLC Sydney Foundation for their generous support of this trip, as well as the Year 10 East Timor Fundraising Committee who have dedicated time and effort to support the children and teachers in Timor-Leste.
