PLC Sydney and St Aloysius' College Combined Concert
📹: This video is a snippet of the performance piece Beethoven's Choral Fantasy by the PLC Sydney and St Aloysius' College Combined Orchestras.
On Sunday 13 August, audiences were treated to a wonderful afternoon of entertainment. The PLC Sydney Chamber Choir and St Aloysius' College Choir, directed by Ms Clouston, began the musical feast with a beautiful rendition of Hallelujah followed by Imagine, directed by Mr Tim Chung. The combined PLC Sydney and St Aloysius' College Orchestras (which consisted of more than 100 performers) then performed a movement from Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.5 in E minor followed by Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, with Mr Andrew Basile on piano. Thank you to all the students and staff who helped present this amazing concert and now with our own Symphony Orchestra, we look forward to more exhilarating performances of well known and exciting symphonic repertoire.
PLC Sydney Tattoo 2017

Our second annual PLC Sydney Tattoo was held Saturday 19 August on Drummond Field. The PLC Sydney Tattoo is modelled on the Edinburgh Tattoo and even the weather this year resembled that of typical Scottish weather. With the backdrop of our own PLC Sydney castle, Drummond Field came alive with massed Pipe Bands, combined PLC Sydney and The Scots College Wind Ensemble, PLC Sydney Big Band, the inaugural performance of the PLC Sydney Middle Years Concert Band and even our own Scottish Fiddle group. The PLC Sydney Percussion Ensemble had a battle with our PLC Sydney Drum Corp followed by the finale beginning with a fanfare arrangement of the School Hymn arranged by Jeanne Hope. Kate Bombell returned to PLC Sydney after seven years to be a lone piper, with all musicians performing together on Drummond Field then marching off into the distance to the sounds of Auld Lang Syne.
The night was a sound and visual spectacular, including sheet music flying around Drummond Field helped along by the icy winds. Special thanks must go to the incredible students for their resilience; the hard working parent team selling hot soup, coffee and cakes; and Greg Barnwell, Monique Curiel, Adam Wishart, Leigh Giles and Mark Lambert for making this night such a memorable event.
