Masterclass Conference 2017

Are we better off without Christianity?  Are there good reasons not to be an atheist?  What really is free speech?

These are three of the key questions raised and discussed at this year’s Masterclass Conference 2017. Masterclass is an annual conference run by the Bible Society across Australia with the NSW conference attracting over 1000 high school students. Students came to hear three talks presented by various speakers.

On Tuesday 8 August, a group of 13 PLC Sydney students from Years 9-11 attended the conference. This year’s line up of speakers included John Dickson, Natasha Moore and Dan Paterson.

The students enjoyed all three speakers, they particularly engaged with Moore’s topic on free speech - her talk looked at student culture, same sex-marriage, how to be right and how to be wrong and how the nature of God reveals and shows us the importance of the freedom of speech - and why millennials will need to fight for it.

It was an excellent and thought-provoking day!
