On 25 July 2017, 18 PLC Sydney students, along with students from other schools across Sydney, attended HASSE Space School in the USA. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity where we were able to explore a side of Science we had never experienced before. During the trip, we travelled to Houston, Texas where were privileged to hear inspiring talks from leading NASA Astronauts and Engineers who shared their unique experiences. Then in Huntsville, Alabama, we visited the US Space and Rocket Centre and participated in some incredible activities such as the 1/6 gravity chair that recreates what it feels like to be on the moon! We developed close friendships with students from other schools in our groups and immersed ourselves in the true American culture and food. Overall, this was a mind blowing experience, that showed us the opportunities that are available in the fields of Science and Engineering. We will look back on this in years to come and remember just how lucky we were to have this amazing opportunity. Space camp was out of this world and we can't wait to share the full recount of our trip, along with more photos, in the next edition of Camphora which will be published in the last week of Term 4.
