Twenty-eight PLC Sydney students from Years 5-11 competed in the 2017 Regional Snowsports Championships that were held in Thredbo over the July holidays. The team performed exceptionally well with 23 students qualifying for the State Championships to be held in August.
PLC Sydney Snowboarders dominated the competition this year, with the Year 7 sister duo of Paige and Tara Jones, along with teammate Phoebe Glenn (Year 8), winning gold in both Snowboard GS and Snowboard Cross events. Tara and Paige also won 1st and 2nd place overall. Senior teammates from Year 11, Lilli Glenn and Winona Dufrier placed third overall in both the Snowboard GS and Boardercross events.
The Year 9 team of Emma Bosco, Georgia Coote and Maggie O'Reilly cleaned up with a gold medal in the Moguls teams event. Emma also won individual gold and Georgia took out the silver medal. Emma and Georgia teamed up with Year 10 students, Phoebe Cridland and Jasmine Wiesner, to place 4th overall in Alpine GS.
Individual achievements also came from Clare Bosco (Year 7) who won gold in the Moguls and Chelsey Johnson (Year 9) who took out bronze in the Snowboard GS.
We wish the 23 members strong PLC Sydney Snowsports team all the best for the State Championships in August.
