NSW da Vinci Decathlon

Can you imagine working in a room with 1000 other students from 122 schools?
On Thursday 26 May, eight Year 6 girls and eight Year 5 girls from PLC Sydney were part of the amazing annual event known as the da Vinci Decathlon. Teams gathered in the Great Hall at Knox Grammar School and worked through activities in the disciplines of Science, English, Philosophy, Art, Poetry, Mathematics, Engineering, Cartography, Code Breaking and General Knowledge.
The PLC Year 5 team were awarded 2nd place in English and Engineering, and 3rd place in Cartography. These results contributed to them being placed second in the competition. Congratulations to Madeline Chang, Eujiny Cho, Dominique de Souza, Vahini Naidoo, Billie Ronis, Olivia Stavrakis, Raehana Taoube and Olivia Thompson.
The PLC Year 6 team received 2nd place in Engineering and 3rd place in Cartography. Well done Annabelle Adams, Rhiane Fotaras, Deanne Kalis, Veronica Kwong, Georgia Macdessi, Michelle Ni, Emily Roberts and Jasmin Usham.
The participants recognised that the activities were challenging and required them to work as a team and assist each other, persevere with tasks, work within a designated timeframe and build upon the ideas of each other.
The day was unique, all students participated wholeheartedly and learnt a great deal about the importance of team work when solving challenging problems. They also met students from other schools and had most importantly had fun!
