The annual exhibition brings together artworks by Year 11 Visual Arts with those of a professional, practising artist created during a residency at ‘The Croydon’.

Ms Louisa Chircop, this year’s Artist in Residence, showcased artworks inspired by her time at Yvonne and Arthur Boyd’s Education Centre, set on Bundanon Trust's magnificent Riversdale property overlooking Longreach on the Shoalhaven River. Year 11 students’ artworks, in a variety of media, adeptly conveyed an array of responses to their experiences of the Australian landscape during the camp.

The proceedings kicked off with a musical performance by Year 11 students Claudia Elwaw and Katherine Chen on vocals and guitar respectively. Kelsey Lu (Year 11) shared with the crowd the many highlights of the art camp and reflected on her Riversdale experience. Mr Michael Reardon-Small, art collector and sponsor of the James Gleeson Surrealism Award at Campbelltown Arts Centre, congratulated the girls on creating such fine works and spoke with admiration of the high level of talent on display in each canvas. He commended Ms Chircop for her body of work, created during the Residency, and spoke fondly of his association with the artist since she was awarded the inaugural James Gleeson Award in 2013. On behalf of the students and staff at PLC Sydney, Vanessa Li (Year 11) presented Mr Reardon-Small with a gift of thanks for his participation, and to Ms Chircop for her immense contribution as Artist in Residence, sharing her knowledge of painting and mixed media with the students and supporting them in their artistic endeavours.

Riversdale Dreaming continues weekdays 8.30 am – 4.00 pm until 26 June. Gallery closed public holidays.
