PLC Sydney Para Rowers meet the NSW Governor

issue0716-pararowers-group-page.jpgOn Tuesday 19 April 2016, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, General David Hurley, and his wife, Linda, invited current and past NSW Para Rowers, supporters and guests to Government House for a reception to acknowledge the growth, development and success of Para Rowing in NSW over the past 20 years.

PLC Sydney has made a long standing contribution to Para Rowing in NSW and Australia. Our Transition girls have been rowing at PLC Sydney since 2000. In 2003 Julia Vaness-Collins and Jennifer Emmerson, both students at PLC Sydney at the time, were selected into Australia's first ever Mixed Four to complete at the first World Championship for this event. They performed exceptionally well, winning the gold medal. We have continued to build our Para Rowing program. We currently have five girls training and competing at a State level.

As a Patron of Rowing in NSW, the Governor is extremely supportive of Para Rowing, and was very generous in hosting this reception at Government House. We all had a fabulous time in this incredible historical building and surrounds.
