Walk around PLC Sydney for diabetes

On Tuesday 29 March the Junior School, in conjunction with IPSHA, participated in the ‘Walk Around the World’ Fundraiser on Drummond Field and the Evandale Playground. The walkathon helped to raise awareness and monetary support for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This foundation does wonderful work for children with juvenile diabetes. It offers much needed support to affected families and provides funds for ongoing research to find a cure for this disease.

Junior School students asked family and friends to sponsor them and a record was kept for every kilometre they walked. The total kilometres were also recorded with IPSHA and tracked on a world map.

The walkathon made us feel happy and we were grateful that it was a cloudy day. This was a great way for everyone to exercise and raise money for Type 1 diabetes research.

We were really impressed with the number of students who walked more than the 10 laps. They were all eager and enthusiastic to raise more money for such a worthy cause.
