2016 Open Day and Fair
The PLC Sydney Open Day and Fair is now only weeks away, and plans are in full swing for another great event.
The day is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the school and also raise funds for the P & F Association, the proceeds of which support many exciting activities, projects and resources that benefit all students.
The Fair also allows you to get involved and meet other people in our community in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
The Fair is completely run by volunteers and its success depends upon the generosity of those connected to the school. If you would like to help and support this great event, some of the activities you could consider include:
- Start collecting your donations for the basket stall. A note will be sent home shortly with more details; however, any items that could be included in a Mothers’ Day gift basket would be appreciated;
- Clean out your bookshelves ready for donations to be made to the second-hand book stall. Collections will start in the coming weeks;
- Send us an email with an idea for a stall;
- Put your hand up as a volunteer to give an hour or two to an existing stall. We are happy to find a spot for you and, as always, need all the help we can get. Emails can be sent to Rosaria Cusumano at: email@example.com
- Make a donation to the Silent Auction. We are looking for anything that you may have to offer:
- A Service – (e.g. dentist check-up, car service, lawn mowing)
- An Experience – scuba dive, jump out of a plane and other great ideas.
- Rare collectibles
- Sports and Art
- Vouchers for school holiday fun
- Hair and Beauty
If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Rebecca Edwards at: firstname.lastname@example.org
The first big offering in our 2016 Silent Auction is a CAR! A brand new Mazda CX-3 will be available to bid on. Proudly supplied by AMR Mazda Petersham. Save your pennies over the holidays so you can bid on this amazing prize.
Please note that bookings are now being taken for events on the day, so be sure to get in early to prevent missing out. Tickets to all events will be available from Mrs Rosemary Tarpey at the Visitors' Reception and Enquiries Office. Please phone 9704 5666 to book your tickets and pay by credit card. Alternatively drop into the Visitors' Reception and Enquiries Office where cash and cheque payments are also accepted.
The rides on Drummond Field have the reputation of creating the biggest and best school-based carnivals anywhere. This year the range of rides will be as good as ever. Never mind the reduced space, we have been assured by our carnival experts that the number of rides and range of fun will be as good as any other year.
Unlimited Ride Bands will be available from the Visitors' Reception and Enquiries Office from the first week of Term 2. Hurry in to take advantage of the early bird discounted rate of $35.
High Tea (11 am – 3 pm)
Please join us in College Hall for a sumptuous ‘High Tea’ with a selection of home baked goodies, bottomless tea and coffee and delightful music provided by some of our most talented students.
Bookings can be made through the Visitors' Reception and Enquiries Office, so why not book a table and celebrate Mothers’ Day in style with some special mums and grandmas.
Tickets: Adults $20/ Students $10.
Session times: 11 am-12 pm, 12-1 pm, 1-2 pm and 2-3 pm.
The High Tea was a sell-out last year, so don’t miss out as seating is limited.
Second-hand Uniform Shop
The Second-hand Uniform Shop will be open from 11.00 am - 12.30 pm during the Open Day and Fair. Please note that the shop is now located adjacent to the J D Oates Aquatic Centre in the newly constructed building under the School Gymnasium. For all enquiries please contact: email@example.com
Hamilton Literature Festival
Hamilton will host a ‘Literature Fair’ during Open Day this year. We are planning some fabulous literary activities for the girls and our guests to enjoy, but need volunteers to help bring them life. We’d love you to join us! Please contact Kate on 0425 289 612 or email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
If anyone has any prizes they’d like to donate for the Hamilton Literature stalls we’d really appreciate them. They can be anything – nothing is too small or too big! Please email: email@example.com.
Second-hand Book Stall
The Book Stall is one of PLC Sydney Open Day and Fair’s most popular and successful stalls, raising many thousands of dollars for our school.
In order for the stall to be successful we need lots of books, so please clear some space on your book shelves and also ask friends, neighbours and work colleagues to do so as well. If you also have CDs and DVDs that you no longer want, please send these in too.
Donations can be left on the Boarders' Verandah now. We are also looking for more volunteers to work on the stall. Any offer of help will be greatly appreciated. Please contact Susan Sukkar (Mikaela, Year 10) and Kai Zhou (Belinda Year 10) on 0430 299 221.
If you have any general queries regarding the Fair, please contact Fair Coordinator, Daniel Bosco, at: firstname.lastname@example.org
