Senior Swimming and Diving Carnival

On Thursday 4 February the Senior School descended upon Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre for the Years 7-12 Swimming and Diving Carnival. There was great participation levels and wonderful vocal support from the houses to encourage their swimmers. The Billy Mac Dash event, comprising the top 10 timed swimmers in the 50m Freestyle, was won for the second year in a row by Year 9 student Mariah Moshovis. This is an amazing effort as Mariah only qualified seventh fastest.

Bosco sisters, Emma (Year 8) and Clare (Year 6), have been leaving their mark on the slopes of Canada this season in the event of Moguls skiing. Emma competed in two legs of the State Level Provincial Event known as ‘Timber Tour’ in Canada during January. Representation comes from all the major British Columbia resorts including Whistler, Big White, Silver Star, and Vancouver. For the first leg, at Apex Mountain, Emma won U14 gold, and Clare won U12 silver. On the second leg at Whistler Blackcomb, Emma won U14 silver and Clare won U12 silver.

Emma has been invited to stay in Canada for an additional week during February to compete in the Canada Cup which is a nationwide Canadian freestyle event. Both Emma and Clare enjoy the friendships and emerging rivalries they get to experience whilst training and competing in Canada. Emma is able to maintain her academic standards whilst training overseas due to the assistance of the TIP program offered at PLC Sydney.
