Junior School Co-curricular Assembly

issue1916-co-curricular-assemblyWe congratulate all of the girls who received certificates and badges at the Junior School Co-curricular Assembly last Wednesday. These are awarded for girls’ commitment to Sports, Music, Tournament of Minds, Debating and Chess. It was wonderful to welcome the parents who joined us at this special assembly where Ms Elka Whalan (nee Graham) was the special guest speaker.

Elka spoke to the girls and encouraged them to be a ‘first rate you’ not a ‘second rate someone else’. Her message supported the College values of integrity and purpose and showed how our attitude in life, and the words we use, should empower, uplift, encourage and support one another.

Elka’s stellar swimming career saw her reach world number 1 in her freestyle events, bringing home medals from the Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games. She has a successful media career and makes regular appearances on Channel 7 Sunrise, discussing news and lifestyle topics.

Thank you to Ms Shearer, Assistant to Head of Junior School/Co-curricular Coordinator, for her amazing organisation of this event.
