Congratulations to the musicians in the Junior School who performed at the Annual Evandale and Hamilton Music Concerts held at Audrey Keown Theatre on Thursday 4 November 2016. The Concerts were wonderful events, very entertaining and a lot of fun for the whole family.

The Evandale Concert began at 5.00 pm with Year 1 presenting six entertaining, interactive pieces for the audience. Following this, Evandale Strings were joined on stage by the Year 5 Quartet to present two short works. The Concert concluded with Year 2 singing four contrasting, amusing songs. A lovely time was had by students and families.

At 6.30 pm, Hamilton students showcased the co curricular music groups together with Year 4 and Year 5 class bands. Highlighted performances by the groups included: Sailors’ Dance and Ghost Ship performed by Junior Orchestra; Rainbow and Breathless performed by Hamilton Strings; Junior Concert Band playing Winds of The Orient; Junior Jazz Band playing Bandroom Boogie; Year 4 and Year 5 Bands marched onto stage to perform several tunes from their class program. Cantabile and PLC Voices sang, The Wanderer and for the finale, Choirs, Bells and Hamilton Strings combined to present the beautiful work Listen by Bonnie Nilsson and Paul Jarman.

Thank you to the Music Staff, especially Ms Monique Curiel for her stage organisation, the backstage helpers, Year 11 Prefects and Junior School Music Captains, Natalie Kim and Veronica Kwong, who did a fine job as comperes for both Concerts. Thank you to the parents who joined us on the evening to support their daughters and the music program in the Junior School.
