Congratulations to our PLC Sydney gymnasts who competed at the IGSSA Carnival on Friday 28 October 2016 at Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre. Our Artistic Team placed 2nd and our Rhythmic Team placed 7th, resulting in PLC Sydney finishing the meet with an overall position of 4th out of 20 schools.

The day started with news that we were without a Rhythmic Gymnastics coach and in true PLC Sydney form the girls were not perturbed! Amber Atcheson (Year 9) demonstrated some beautiful performances winning 1st place in all apparatus in the Junior International Level and our Category 4 Group placed 4th, helping the Rhythmic Team to finish their day in 7th place.

Our Artistic Gymnastics Team were excited to impress everyone with their talent and skill and they did just that with some impressive routines finishing the competition in 2nd place!  Individual results are as follows:

Level 4: Kathleen Cox (Year 7) 2nd Vault and Lauren Flint (Year 7) 3rd Beam.
Level 5: Sherie Pan (Year 10) 1st Vault.
Level 6: Marie-Antoinette Montuoro (Year 7) 1st Bars, 2nd Floor and Mia Duarte (Year 7) 2nd Beam, 3rd Floor.
Level 7: Paige Banducci (Year 8) 3rd Floor and Eleanor Clifton-Bligh (Year 9) 3rd Floor.

With 15 of the 35 gymnasts selected for the team coming from Year 7, we have a strong future ahead of us. Bring on 2017!  Well done to all the girls who showed great sportsmanship, discipline and camaraderie. As always, I was very proud to be supporting such lovely young ladies.
