Contemporary Printmaking in Art and Design, PLC Sydney’s diverse and engaging display of print works by leading practitioners and students, was officially opened at Adelaide Perry Gallery on Thursday 13 October 2016, by sculptor Mr Louis Pratt.

Mr Louis Pratt began official proceedings with lively insight into the ways he uses 3D Printing processes to create his unique sculptural pieces. Art and Design Captain, Vanessa Li, presented Mr Pratt with flowers of thanks for participating in the exhibition. To close proceedings, Principal, Dr Paul Burgis formally announced that Ms Jo Knight has been appointed Head of Visual Arts and Mr Mark Hetherington will be the new Curator of the Adelaide Perry Gallery in 2017.

This exhibition is designed to inspire the practice of our young artists and designers of the College and showexemplar printmaking practices including linocut, etching and collagraph printmaking as well as digital, laser and 3D printingworks all of which demonstrate artists and designers expression through the printmaking medium. As a part of the exhibitionprogram our new Year 12 Design and Technology students attended a full day 3D Printing workshop with the team from ModFab.

The exhibition featured innovative works produced through traditional and digital printmaking technologies and included artworks by Rew Hanks: Cinnamon Lee, Louis Pratt, Lousje Skala, Laura Stark, XYZ Workshop, and a selection from the Cicada  Press Collection including Doris Bush Nungarrayi, Michael Callaghan, Elisabeth Cummings, Fiona Hall, Michael Kempson, Euan Macleod, Chris O'Doherty, Vipoo Srivilasa, Marshall Weber and Raymond Zada. Print works from the PLC Sydney Collection and outstanding pieces by our student artists and designers are also highlighted in the exhibition.
