General Update

As the new term commences I write to update you on a few important matters:
Boundary Street Traffic
In the holiday period I held a meeting with local residents. It was very helpful. On 11 October I learned that our proposal is still being checked by traffic experts. The Mayor will meet with me to discuss the next steps, I will update you on outcomes in a future edition of Connections.
There are now signs indicating the laws regarding ‘No Stopping’ zones and ‘Kiss and Ride’ zones. Please take time to read these and ensure that you are supporting these common laws.
Also please ensure you obey all ‘No Right Turn’ signs – specifically those on Boundary Street.
If you have further input in this area please write to me or comer to the P & F meeting on November 7. Thank you for your support.
Gateway Project
The builders are now making excellent progress. Whilst the opening date has been delayed significantly by the problems with the underground railway-related electric cables, we are now building at a great rate. I will take the JSA on a tour of the building site soon as recognition of their excellent support for the College. I wish to acknowledge the volunteer work done by these parents for the school.
Communications
We warmly welcome our new Chief Information Officer, Mr David Savill. David created one of the main education technology platforms in Australia. He is a very highly qualified and able educational technologist.
David believes we can have the first model of the new portal out early in 2017. This has been long-awaited and is much anticipated!
I note that there are a number of areas that we have prioritised for inclusion:
- Information directed to individual year levels
- Calendar
- Assessments (senior School)
- Review of Boarding communication – an area we are reviewing as part of the portal renewal
