Australian Snowsports Championships 2016

The largest PLC Sydney Snowsports team ever, qualified to compete at the 2016 Australian Interschools Championships during the first week of September. The girls were strong competitors with standout performances from Emma Bosco (Year 8) named Moguls National Champion, teaming up with Georgia Coote (Year 8) to win gold in the Moguls Team event. 

14 PLC Sydney students from Years 4-9 competed at the 2016 Australian Interschools Championships across all events including Alpine, Moguls, Skier Cross, Snowboard, Snowboard Cross, Cross Country Freestyle, Cross Country Relay, Slopestyle Ski and Slopestyle Snowboard.


Day 1 of racing saw PLC Sydney taking the dias in two Cross Country team events with Phoebe Cridland (Year 9), Georgia Smith (Year 9) and Taylor Porter (Year 9) taking out silver in the Freestyle and Relay team events. Phoebe then went on to place second overall in the Individual Freestyle. 

 
The amazing Year 8 duo, Emma and Georgia, finished in first place taking gold in Team Moguls for the third year in a row. Emma was also crowned Individual Moguls Champion. 

Other stand-out individual performances were from Xanthia Coote (Year 4) who placed 7th in Cross Country and 9th in Moguls; Chelsey Johnson (Year 8) placed 13th in Snowboard Cross, in her first year of racing; Phoebe came 5th in Ski Slopestyle and 10th in Moguls; and Clare Bosco (Year 6) finished 6th in Moguls. 

Congratulations to the PLC Sydney Snowsports team who showed incredible sportsmanship at the 2016 Australian Interschools Championships.
