I have just climbed the stairs after attending our Year 12 Farewell Formal Service and Luncheon. It is hard to describe the emotions we feel at this time of year. Over the course of up to 14 years of schooling we get to know the girls very well. We watch them on stage performing Music and Drama, or see their Art, listen to them reading or celebrate their skills in Mathematics or the Sciences. We watch them at play or learning to redeem a friendship; we meet them with their families and we see them grow.
In the final week of school, we hold a Year 12 Picnic and host a service and dinner for our boarders. The girls have lunch in my family home, we have a breakfast and an informal assembly, and then the climax – the Formal Dinner, and the next day, the Year 12 Formal Service and exit from the College.
It is lovely. We celebrate each girl, her growth and her person. We thank God for them.
I wish to recognise the Class of 2016 for their fine leadership and care for each other. Lucy Rowse has been an excellent Captain and she has been strongly supported by her peers. It was a joy to hear all of the speakers at our service, including Lucy.
I acknowledge also the parents and the unending support they have given in so many areas.
Well done Year 12 2016!
Year 12 will now go on study leave for a few weeks before they commence the Higher School Certificate.

Well done to our sporting teams!
Last Saturday was very exciting with our Netball Firsts winning their competition in the last second of extra time, when Laura Sweeting scored a goal. Our Netball Junior A’s were also premiers after remaining undefeated all season. Our Netball Junior B’s won the competition with a strong showing. Our Netball Junior D’s came oh so close, losing by a goal. And to top it off, one of our Year 7 Hockey teams won their competition when Madeleine Hardy scored a goal in the final seconds of extra-time!
What great excitement!
I was very impressed by the level of sportsmanship and determination in the PLC Sydney teams.
There are many more fabulous sporting and cultural stories in this edition of Connections.
