Congratulations to the PLC Sydney Chamber Choir who performed beautifully in the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod on Sunday 21 August. The girls won Best Performance of a Work by an Australian Composer and were voted runners-up in the People’s Choice Award.
The final of the Sydney Eisteddfod was a showcase of some of Australia’s best choral performers. 8 choirs (4 adult choirs and 4 school choirs), were competing for top honors in both the People’s Choice Award and the Jury Vote categories.
PLC Sydney performed incredibly and won Best Performance of a work by an Australian Composer singing Waking Dreamer by Adelaide composer Annie Kwok, receiving $1000 in prize money. The girls were also voted runners-up in the People's Choice Award, winning a further $2000, in the same category.
In addition to their award-winning performance, the girls sang Thankful and Libertango, two beautiful pieces that were the perfect contrast to their program. The overall winner of the Australian Choral Grand Prix was adult choir - Endeavour Harmony Chorus and the People’s Choice Award was Fort St Chamber Choir.
Thank you to Ms Clouston and Mr Basile for their work with the girls, to the parents and friends who came along in support and to the the girls themselves who worked hard and presented themselves so well.
