Congratulations to the 103 PLC Sydney students, from Years 5–9, who participated in the Challenge Stage of the Mathematics for Young Australians Competition (MCYA).
The MCYA has three independent stages: the Challenge Stage, the Enrichment Stage and the Australian Intermediate Mathematics Olympiad. The MCYA Program targets the top 20% of primary students in Years 3–6 and secondary students in Years 7–10.
PLC Sydney students partook in the Challenge Stage. This three week intensive course is an introduction to problem-solving, where students can work with a buddy. Dr Dawe and the teachers from each year group work throughout the year: introducing investigations, mathematical proof and complex ideas beyond the school curriculum.
