Riversdale Dreaming Exhibition People's Choice

Issue 0915_RiversdaleCongratulations to Maggie He in Year 11 Visual Arts who is this year’s recipient of the People's Choice Award for the Riversdale Dreaming exhibition. The exhibition, which closed last Friday 12 June, featured works by Artist-in-Residence Evan Salmon and students of Year 11 Visual Arts in the Adelaide Perry Gallery. Visitors had the opportunity to vote for their favourite student artwork.

Maggie, who was the clear winner with the most number of votes, will be presented her certificate with a $50 art supply voucher at a school assembly, shortly.

Maggie says about her exhibited painting Unfocused (pictured):

In my practice I wanted to more deeply and closely investigate the nature of Bundanon and the Shoalhaven River. My use of oil was a move that allowed me to show the rich and heavy presence of nature I felt. My works attempt to capture the quaking interplay of light and colour much like the chaos of leaves and branches.

Maggie He will be participating in the prestigious National Art School's HSC Extension Intensive Studio Practice program later this year with fellow classmates Katie Taylor and Kimberley Woo. The girls were selected through a highly competitive portfolio selection process. We wish the girls well for this exciting opportunity ahead.
