PLC Sydney runner-up in three ISDA Finals

Issue 0915_DebatingPLC Sydney has completed an incredibly successful season in the ISDA competition, culminating in the Grand Final on Friday 13 June. The teams from Years 7, 8 and 9 debated against Wenona School, Barker College and MLC School respectively.

All debates were extremely close but ultimately our teams were runners-up. To put this in context this means they came second out of approximately 30 Sydney Independent schools competing in each year group.

Congratulations go the following students: Jacqueline Ciofani, Gwendalyn Dabaja, Noelle Davis, Nina Power, Sophie Angus, Georgina Hedge, Natalie Lambropoulos, Sarah Sweeting, Madison Yazbek, Elena Ng, Rebekah Kang, Annabelle Mentzines, Lauren McGrath-Wild, Sherie Pan and Karli Mussara along with their coaches: Holly Burgis, Caelin Kramer and Emmeline Hirst.

All debaters have shown a great deal of commitment this season by attending weekly meetings, training sessions and keeping up to date with current affairs. They are all to be congratulated for their efforts and achievements.

A big thank you must also go to the staff and parents who came along to encourage and support the girls at their debates.

The debating season continues with Archdale Debating on Tuesday afternoons until the end of Term 3 and Debating Club meetings every Wednesday lunchtime.

Ms Cathy Sidoti
Head of Debating
