Congratulations to three PLC Sydney Teachers

Congratulations to Ms Sarah Waller, Social Sciences teacher at PLC Sydney, on her award at the Inaugural Independent Schools Teacher Accreditation Authority's Conference.

In independent schools teachers increase their status and financial remuneration by demonstrating the improvements they have made in student learning. As Chair of the ISTAA Council I am very proud of the innovation we at ISTAA have introduced in 2015 to ask teachers to engage in research in how to improve the learning in their classrooms rather than simply to prove their strengths as a teacher.

Ms Waller conducted research on the topic: What impact does near-peer teaching have on student engagement and reflective practice in Secondary School students? Her work was lauded for its thoroughness and impact on positive learning.

Congratulations also to Mr Gavin Sinclair for his excellent research on Encouraging mastery rather than sufficiency in Mathematics by requiring clear working in formative assessment tasks.

Congratulations also to Tara Jeong for her high quality submission to ISTAA on the learning of children in Evandale.

The standards our teachers uphold assist our students in their learning. Congratulations to these fine practitioners!
