Students awarded for leadership and teamwork

issue1715-assembly-presentationCongratulations to Alison Chen (Year 10) and Phoebe McHugh (Year 12, 2015) who have both received the 2015 ADF Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award.

The awards are presented to a Year 10 and Year 12 student who demonstrate outstanding and sustained leadership and teamwork within both their school and the broader local community. They also recognise students who display strong values that are integral to Australian society, such as respect for others, tenacity and compassion.

The awards are a joint initiative between the Australian Government and Australian Defence Force to encourage senior students to actively participate in and contribute to the life of their school and local community.

The Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Awards were named as a fitting tribute to the veterans who fought in the Battle of Long Tan during the Vietnam War, which was one of the defining moments in Australian military history.
