Evandale Swimming Carnivals

issue1715-sport-evandaleEvandale students were all extremely excited to display their talents and abilities when they competed in the 2015 Evandale Swimming Carnivals last week. Year 1 students were tremendous in showing their skills in the 50m, 25m and 14m freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke events. Pre-Kindergarten enthusiastically demonstrated their prowess in the 14m freestyle, backstroke and novelty events. Kindergarten all amazed us all with their talents in the 14m pool and also showcased their top swimmers in the 25m freestyle and backstroke. Year 2 were outstanding with 90 per cent of students now swimming 25m or more. The events culminated with the 100m Individual Medley which was hotly contested by the following athletes: Juliette Colosi, Kate Doan, Ellie Kwan, Amy Somboli, Erica Cassen and Jessica Ferreira-Alves.

All the girls were all very pleased and proud of themselves – especially the ones who only recently started in the intensive swimming program at PLC Sydney.

Learn to Swim Clinics are now being offered for Term 1, 2016 at the J D Oates Aquatic Institute. To secure a place please contact the Aquatics Director, Mrs Karen Stephenson, on 9704 5739.

IGSSA Touch Football

PLC Sydney will compete in three grand finals in IGSSA Touch Football this coming Saturday. After four exciting semi-finals last Saturday, we hope Drummond Field will play host to several grand final matches. Check the IGSSA Touch Football Draw on the website and come along and lend plenty of support to our Senior Seconds, Junior Firsts and Year 7 students. Good luck girls.

It has been a great start to the racing season for PLC Sydney Rowing. On Saturday 7 November six crews competed at the Loreto Normanhurst Regatta, with the team gaining one first place, five second places and two third places over a number of Quad, Double Scull and Single Scull events. On Sunday 8 November the same crews competed at the Loreto Kirribilli Regatta, this time gaining two first places, four second places and two third places. Our whole team, including all our new rowers, competed at the Roseville Regatta on Saturday 14 November. While official results are still to be confirmed, three crews won their race with a number of placings in other events.
