PLC Sydney top of the talk

issue1515-ahigs-groupAfter four years of being runners-up, PLC Sydney reclaimed its number one ranking by placing first overall at the AHIGS Festival of Speech competition, held last weekend.

Fourteen students battled it out in a war of words at Wenona School. All girls spoke with confidence and clarity. The Junior team, including Sophie Ma and Eleanor Lawton Wade (pictured left), led the way with breathtaking winning performances. The Religious and Ethical team made up of Makayla Angel Merlino, Beatrice Tucker, Amelia Woolcott and Isabella Bicego, followed up strongly with victory in their division. Other key results included Alison Chen, who placed second in Senior Poetry, and Annalise McCarthy, who placed third in Senior Readings.

The final results were as follows:

Middle Years (Junior) – 1st: PLC Sydney, 2nd: Abbotsleigh, 3rd: Kincoppal.

Senior Years – 1st: SCEGGS, 2nd: Pymble, 3rd: PLC Sydney

Overall – 1st: PLC Sydney, 2nd: Pymble, 3rd: SCEGGS

Congratulations to Lynette Hawkey, Jacqueline Field, Stacey Konstantopolous, Kerry Maxwell, Bronwyn Lim, Elizabeth Pearson and Joanna Taylor on preparing the students so well.
